Japan imports.

We review your product and importer setup, prepare the ACP appointment, and handle the agreed Customs contact in Japan. Send us what you plan to import; an existing HS code helps, but you can start without one.

What the review covers

The first review gives you a practical next step: prepare the appointment, fill a gap in the information, or resolve a product or importer issue. We agree the review scope and timing with you before starting.

  1. Your product

    Code + specifications

Materials, function, intended use and an existing code, if known.

  2. Our review

    Product + importer

Review the import structure, Japan presence and evidence to clarify.

  3. Your next step

    ACP suitability

Appointment review, additional documents or a specialist issue to resolve.

A focused human review. Final tariff classification and clearance decisions rest with Customs.

The ACP role

The ACP role

An Attorney for Customs Procedures (ACP) is the Japan-resident contact a non-resident appoints for customs procedures. Your importer arrangements need to be reviewed alongside that appointment.

The ACP handles the Customs contact within the appointment and agreed scope. The guide to the ACP role in Japan explains the responsibilities.

Common questions

Questions before you start

Read all FAQs
Can you review my HS code before I appoint an ACP?

Yes. Send the code you use, the product's materials and function, and your importer details. We review ACP suitability and identify the information needed for the next step. You can start with a product description if you do not have a code. See the HS code review service.

What stays with the non-resident importer?

Your company remains the importer named on the declaration and provides the commercial facts. The appointed ACP handles the agreed procedural contact with Customs. The ACP role guide explains the responsibilities.

How long does the appointment take?

The operator's planning estimate is 1 to 2 weeks from a complete document pack to the appointment being on record. Customs determines the record date. The initial HS code review comes before that appointment stage. See the process guide.
